I would call this painting "surreal" but the metaphors involved are unmistakeable. This is a picture about change; moving from the darkness into the golden light, with the enormous effort that sometimes accompanies that passage and the pain of leaving the familiar for the unknown. Like this woman, we often have no clear vision of our destination, but trust that Self will move to that higher place with our inviolate intent.
