This watercolor painting was inspired by the flowers growing in my garden. When the plants bloom they ass a very colorful and striking element to the garden. They are so exotic and interesting that I have been planning to paint them for a while. The new batch of blooms were so prolific that I had to paint them immediately. I also included other plants that grow here in Florida to create a decorative composition. I had the perfect Windsor and Newton 300 pound watercolor paper. It took layers and layers to achieve these vibrant tones. This high quality paper kept the richness and brightness of the colors. Layers and layers produced these vibrant tones. I loved working with both this heavy paper and the paints. The paper is deliberately torn at the edges to create an irregular line. The work can be framed either with the distinctive edges showing or they can be covered.
