This is an ink drawing drawn in-situ when I visited Palenque, Mexico in April - June 2000. I had set upon a round the world travel from Nov 1999 - July 2000, spend the Millennium in the Philippines with my girlfriend.
We arrived in Mexico in April and visited all the Mayan sites, something I had wanted to do since 1996 after reading Fingerprints of the Gods by graham Hancock (an amazing book). At Palenque, which we visited twice, we meet a couple of healers in the chamber of Lord Pacal, who had apparently been waiting for me to arrive, and I kid you not - they healed my tinnitus which I had been suffering from since Millennium night from the chinese bangers in Cainta.
Whilst here I did a lot of drawings in my sketchbook and I did this ink drawing looking at the main temple where the Lid of Palenque is situated (unfortunately it was closed so I never got to see this amazing lid of Pacal's sarcophagus. I chose to create this drawing as a black and white, observing the shadows and light, highlighting the strong power of the Sun, something worshipped by the Mayan's and Lord Pacal, who was considered a Sun God, or someone who knew the secrets of the Sun and its electro-magnetic field and its effect on the human body, its hormone and fertility cycles and its interaction with our DNA.
