Artist's description:

Pillboxes feature in Outpost, as part of an ongoing series I have been working on. Pillboxes are not an uncommon feature on New Zealand's coastlines, as well as many places around the world. They seem like such an oddity when you stumble upon them now, but were a vital line of defense in the not so distant past. Outpost could be deserted, accept the jetties seem ready to welcome. And, is someone is keeping the home fire burning?

Materials used:

Artist's acrylic finished with an isolation barrier (acrylic gel gloss) and archival varnish

Outpost (2015)
