Original artwork description:

After the introduction of cranes to Somerset I was inspired to make some. These were some small scale models based on origami paper cranes after making a life size crane. The most difficult aspect of making these cranes was bending the wire mesh to the same pattern as the origami paper cranes. Hence they are not perfect and an origami master would probably turn in his grave! But I like the way they turned out and the imperfection of their shape just adds to their charm!
This one is the biggest of all three of the glass origami cranes I made and I have used the same colouring as the cranes. Size from tip of head to tail is 45cm, height is 20cm, wing span is 56cm

Materials used:

wire mesh, glass fibre mesh, cement mixtures, vitreous glass tile, millefiori tiles
