Artwork description:
A cyanotype on canvas of an Allium Giganteum with simplified silkscreen Orange Tip butterfly, its body depicted by a little bling of gold foil. Inspired by the flora and fauna native to the British Isles. This is a hand made one off piece of work similar to others I have produced but smaller in this version, however the Allium is truly 'Giganteum'!
The cyanotype is now seen as an alternative photographic process but its history dates to the beginning of the developments of photography in the middle of the 19th century. You will find other versions of this subject elsewhere in my shop.
Materials used:
UV sensitive chemical mix, silk screen ink, metallic foil
