Only When It Rains is part of my geometric series. These geometric abstract oil paintings explore the subtle balance between order and chaos, darkness and light, structure and freedom. Immerse yourself in worlds of circles, lines and shapes that remain elusive even as they gradually reveal their inner secrets.

I started this painting with acrylic paint and blended it like watercolors. Although I guide the paint, I also let the colors and shapes develop naturally.

The under painting process I use lends itself to creating organic forms, which I then tighten up with structural lines. This layering technique mirrors the larger theme of my work: the hard edges of our structured world contrasted against the organic forms of the natural world.

I use only the highest quality professional-grade paints and natural non-toxic solvents to produce archival paintings. This piece is on a gallery wrapped canvas and the painting continues around the sides. The work comes wired to hang.
