This clay head is based on African Nkondi idols which were made from found wood and nails. The nails were struck into the figures as part of a petiton for help, healing, or witness-particularly of contracts and pledges.
I have made this head using clay and I have painted it using acrylic paints and it is fully varnished and signed on the bottom.
I love how this sculpture looks quite scary and haunting but its actual meaning is very positive and interesting.
