This small watercolour painting was inspired by a family trip to Culzean beach in Ayrshire, on the west coast of Scotland, in January this year. I grew up in this area but do not live there now. I am interested in how people experience and connect with the natural landscape in our modern age, especially children like my own who are growing up in a city. I wonder how important the environment will become in my children's lives, and the lives of their children.
NB The third photo shows the painting mounted to an A3 sheet of white card, to give an idea of scale.
