On the moors around Baildon and Ilkley in West Yorkshire are a number of rocks bearing mysterious markings, generally known as Cup and Ring Stones. I suspect no-one will ever really know their purpose and meaning, but there's a sense of history. They intrigue me and I feel a link to people gone by - those who made the marks and all those who have walked the moors and seen the stones over many, many years.
This monoprint is based on one of these stones.
