Artist's description:

In the world of the Matador when a rose is thrown it has meaning. If thrown before the kill stike it is a request to spare the bull, If thrown after the kill strike it is thrown to praise the victory and skill or the Matador. In this painting it is thrown just at the moment of the kill strike. It distracts the toreador.
