Artist's description:

This series is about the tension that exists between chaos and order — and treating both as equals, neither one “good” or “bad.” The process for me is about finding beauty in both: the freneticism of chaos and the discipline of order.

I work in charcoal, graphite and soft pastels. Charcoal because it is unpretentious, organic and unpredictable; graphite because its hardness provides more control and precision, and soft pastels because of the wider range of colors. I frequently burnish and blend the colors with my hands to create wide, smooth backgrounds.

NOTE: These drawings may have dust marks or other byproducts of the creation process in the space around the actual artwork.
