A life study with a nude woman standing. She is twisting round and looking to one side with her arms folded in a bold and uncompromising stance. The painting is from life and was made in one session of around one hour and a half. First the drawing is made in charcoal on a toned paper. Then the lightest tones are added in paint using the paper as a mid tone. More charcoal is drawn on to define certain areas, then gradually I work up the tones and add a little detail, always trying to retain a freshness which is imperative to a life study.
