Artist's description:

At the start of 2016 I set into a new series of small paintings which reflect upon artifice, dissembling, illusion and other similar concerns that keep us busy when confronted with another person, painting or piece of digital wizardry. I once read that our need to discriminate between what/who can be trusted and what can’t was the evolutionary spur that made our brains big. Very plausible I think and one of the prompts for this set of paintings.
