Original artwork description:

"Not Our Sea - High Noon" is part of a planned five painting series. It deals with the concept of displacement. The title refers to the Roman expression for the mediterranean as Mare Nostrum (Our Sea), which also gave name to Operation Mare Nostrum, a year-long rescue operation commenced by Italia to handle the increasing number of refugees arriving by sea.
At heart of the work is the mixed feelings of fear and desire, evoked by the image of an empty horizon, and it´s relevance to the possible experience within the Subject, not to feel fully at home in it self.

Note: Unfortunately this work has bent, and must be mounted in all four corners when installed. It is available with metal attachments on the back, at a reduced price.

Materials used:

Filler (coarse and fine) in oak frame
