Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

This Norwegian Spruce was once a child's Christmas Tree. After the celebrations he planted it at the bottom of the garden next to a venerable old apple tree. The spruce grew and grew, and it came to dominate its older companion. The child grew up and moved away but his mother looked after the spruce. Eventually she died and the child, now retired, came back to live with the spruce and the apple.
