She was a warrior from the north. Her ancestors were beaten, raped and killed by the south. She hid under the floor boards and escaped. Allea knew the dangers of migration in the middle of winter. She also knew her fate if she chose to stay. The ax was sharpened and wrapped in buffalo skin. The knife strapped to her leg would cut through bone like butter. She shaved the sides of her head and placed the hair on the shallow graves. The sky was red....the offering she made was accepted. The eagle screamed and the journey began.
