Artist's description:

Badgers are rough and ready creatures. Tough, feisty, sometimes troublesome but always beautiful in the way only truly wild animals can be. The drypoint etching technique I have used here is very good at capturing the busy vitality of a badger.

First I drew a lightening sketch onto a drypoint paper plate. I then scratched over the linework with my drypoint tool, just breaking the surface of the plastic coating. From this I produced the etching which I then hand coloured.

I love the way the drawing captures the essence of the Badger and gives it a slightly comical attitude. He looks a bit evil and a bit cute at the same time.

Materials used:

Hand coloured etching on soft, unbleached, fine quality paper brought back from my travels to Pakistan
