Artist's description:

Ninian North Oil Platform & St. Ninian

Ninian North Oil Platform & St. Ninian, is a large, 1m x 1m, acrylic on canvas painting, depicting the Ninian North Oil Platform on a grey Winters day with the image of St. Ninian filling the sky. The painter was onboard the Ninian North oil Platform in the 1990's and has fond memories of the crew, especially the galley staff who kept us well feed with delicious meals. This depiction was painted during the Winter of 2015 as a celebration of the rig and the weather it endures.

The platform was named after St. Ninian. St. Ninian being the 'Apostle of the Southern Picts'. A 4-5th Century Christian documented in the 8th Century. In Scotland, Ninian is also known as Ringan, and as Trynnian in Northern England.
