Original artwork description:

This painting is an abstract landscape creams, orange and blues invoking the heat haze that surrounds the salt pan of Etosha. The background is blended paint that has been enhanced with impasto palette knife work suggesting the shimmering colours seen in fog and mist.

After spending some time in the Desert Rhino Camp in the Kunene area of Namibia earlier this year, I have a fondness for the desert-adapted black rhino. They live in a desolate area in the North-west of Namibia and are monitored and protected by the rangers of the Save the Rhino Trust. These black rhinos are highly endangered and face a constant threat of extinction due to poaching. The Save the Rhino Trust does a great job with minimum resources.
