Artist's description:

I created this painting as a new mum trying to balance motherhood whilst working as a commercial illustrator with tight deadlines. At the time I was feeling overwhelmed by the situation. I had my beautiful son with whom I wanted to spend precious time with but I also enjoyed my job. I was also very house proud and finding time to clean the house was almost non existent. The muted colours reflect my mood at the time. Although once I had battled with my inner self we decided to put my son into nursery part- time which worked out well for our family unit. With our second child I was relaxed and happy knowing that I would be able to balance work and family life together. By the time we had our third child there was no battle going on inside my head about what was the right thing to do.
