Artist's description:

After a few trips to Morib ( a seaside stretch in Malaysia ) to do some onsite sketches and photographs this piece was created on a raw canvasboard background (protected with clear acrylic gloss) with gestural washes of dark raw umber, and details painted in a direct alla primaesque manner, then finished off with real sand!.. (the last 3 images show the work in progress )

The particular desolate spot we found for this piece (me and my photographer partner) is ridden with dead, dry mangroves, some of them so dry as to be smoking embers just from the heat of the sun,. This area is a carefully guarded secret among photographers and to find it, one has to hunt for it themselves. The dead tree that is the focus of this piece also happens to be a fav among photographers for their fashion photo shoots!...
