Legends associated with hares are full of myths and magic, particularly the hare who gazes at the full moon who is said to signify fertility and prosperity.
This hare is made from twisting and weaving individual strands of various gauge non-tarnish silver-plated wires to form the shape and structure of a graceful, delicate hare. He is inspired by the hares which live near my home in the Yorkshire Dales and which I am sometimes lucky enough to see as they roam the fields and lanes.
Working in wire portrays a strength to the piece while the intricate patterns within the wirework suggest delicacy and fragility.
I also make other nature-inspired pieces from copper wire too.
Non-tarnish silver-plated wire.
