Moon Centred is a beautiful and sensitive piece, giving off a gentle and relaxing energy.
The moon is portrayed in the centre of a circular seascape, with spiralling waves and a shoreline all around.
I have created mandalas for nearly 20 years and they are a creative process that I trust and love... starting in the centre the image grows with layers and shapes inspired by nature and our organic environment. The layering process of both pattern and colour is meditative and means that the final image is often surprising and beautiful.
These are a very special element of my art. My process for all my mandalas is the same, whether commissioned or for an event/exhibition. I start by drawing my circle with a compass, making sure that the centre of the circle is visible… I then just start to draw, free hand from the centre… sometimes the patterns become something and sometimes they stay abstract… but they all grow on the page. When I am working to commission I am working with boundaries set by the customer, such as number and colour, but even then the process is pretty similar.
I also create these to commission often using birth numbers or special dates and colours of choice... I can't say before hand how they will turn out, but trust that they will be perfect for the person/persons who have requested them.
