About the artist : Katrina Jones' expressions are an interesting blend of realism and impressionism, involving emotional color and light texture.
Working primarily in oil, she also adds subtle layers of translucent papers, pastel, and medium or gesso to the piece on either canvas or wood. Some pieces are sketched in graphite on transparent rice paper and layered into the piece so that bits of pencil line are seen through the layers of paint. Pastel gives some exciting texture and highlights over the texture of the paint. Each painting is sealed with several layers of varnish. Sometimes other bits of medium, glitter, or printed paper are worked in as well.
"I am moved by color, music, poetry, nature, patterns and cycles so subtle they make stories, rhythms that quicken the heart and bring you home.
Continually striving to deliver her unique perception of a subject's essence pushes her artistic ability and growth.
I have been painting, drawing, and crafting things for as long as I can remember and the experience of creating art is my Eden. It is my hope that experience is carried to the viewer."
Katrina lives and works out of her home based studio on a small farm in rural Ohio.
