The strangeness of the mountain is accentuated by the presence of a very small mysterious character with a yellow head at the foot of the mountain. The mountain range in the distance is lost on the horizon while in the foreground a figure observes the scene at the top of a mountain.
The work subtly speaks of otherness by emphasizing the diversity of genres, illustrated by the relatively incongruous aspect of Mont Venteux and by the presence of its mysterious character.
