Original artwork description
I wanted to capture a majestic yet tranquil moment when sunlight breaks through the clouds and illuminates the towering cliffs of the valley. The massive rock formations and dark forest create a sense of depth, while the water transforms the sky, cliffs, and light into a second world of reflections. I used cool blues, greens, and deep darks to establish the shadowed atmosphere, then introduced warm ochres, oranges, and luminous whites to emphasize the sunlit rock. Bold contrasts of warm and cool, light and shadow, together with thick, expressive brushwork, broken reflections, and touches of flying birds, bring movement, freedom, and poetry to the grandeur of the landscape.
