I am often left with pieces of beautiful old papers that are so damaged or deteriorated that I'm not sure how long they would last as the ground for a larger painting. I usually salvage as much as I can for collages (eg My Heart Sings) but I decided this time to crop the music to save as much as possible and to create smaller, painted artworks. It's worked really well and was really enjoyable, I think there will be some more Minibirds in 2016...
My Minibirds are all painted on 19th Century Music Manuscript that was saved from a charity shop's bin.
The paper is a beautiful aged creamy, buff colour. The scan of the artwork looks too pink, the photo of the framed artwork is much better.
I've sourced a lovely chunky frame for the paintings so they are ideal, ready to hang presents.
Minibird 4 is my decorative version of a Warbler, not a visitor to my garden but as it's a little songbird I thought it was an ideal subject.
