Artist's description:

Encaustic wax layers are painted over an image transfer to make this little piece of art.
The image transfer comes from a photograph taken of my old farmhouse.

Wax paints are added to give atmosphere and depth to the image.

Painted on encaustic board and mounted in a wooden box frame and ready to hang, 'Memories of the Farmhouse' is an atmospheric image capturing the fading of a memory.

'Encaustic is a wax based paint (composed of beeswax, resin and pigment), which is kept molten on a heated palette. It is applied to an absorbent surface and then reheated in order to fuse the paint. The word ‘encaustic’ comes from the Greek word enkaiein, meaning to burn in, referring to the process of fusing the paint.'

Materials used:

Encaustic Bees wax, photograph transfer, wax paints.
