Artist's description:

MP Sharavanan's Meesai (the Tamil word for moustache) series is an intriguing take on portrait acrylic paintings of men from the streets of Varanasi, India's religious hub.

This man clans a blue turban, a thick white moustache, ash on his forehead (a religious symbol of orthodox Hindus worshipping Lord Shiva), and a vibrant tilak. The painting comes to life with the man's eyes looking straight at you and the contrast of the tilak he clans. The white cloudy background makes this piece of fine art suitable for brighter settings.
