Artist's description:

M.A.V.A.E. stands for mermaid attraction vs. aversion experiment. The attraction vs. aversion part is the contrast between the life-threatening breasts vs. the face of a fish! Are mermaids sexy? Yes and no, huh?

Although the mermaid is nude, her fish skin texture is inspired by a combination of tropical fish textures and tribal tattoo art. Her entire body is beaded, please look at the close-ups, this took months.

This collage incorporates beads, shells, buttons, sequins, recycled - upcycled packaging, Styrofoam, hole punch dots, candy wrappers, wallpaper, a starfish and bark. The painted areas are acrylic.

I make fabric designs from close up details of my collages - you can see them here - https://www.spoonflower.com/collections/198754-collage-details-beads-buttons-punch-dots-packaging-by-chinaberries_studio
