Original artwork description:

It was during trip "Herx Chronicle: the Far East" that I encountered Mink. Like most of my recent works these are Sumi Style Painting using traditional brushes and inks on Japanese paper, through the years I have developed my own way of working, inspired by the ancient zen art techniques, it has been referred to Zen art of controlled accident. It is like painting on the surface of water, there is a magical element in how ink, soaking wet paper and controlled brush movements interact, surreal happy effects of using this medium to work with.
I was introduced to Mink by a close friend. It was her first time modelling. Understandably a bit nervous also in talking to try to make her at ease she was critical and dismissive about herself. However through the sitting she gained more confidence, by the end of the session she was so happy that she wanted to sit for me again. Even asked me to do a portrait of her. I was pleased to make friend with her she came across to me as a very caring kind person. She worked in a centre helping the community.
I also enjoyed talking to her and our exchanges and am longing to go back to Thailand again and organise another session.
