Artist's description:

Charcoal on paper heightened with white

I first studied figure drawing back in 1969 at the Art Students' League in New York with Ethel Katz. My mom had studied with her 25 years earlier. Ethel had two models in a two room classroom. Because it was a Saturday morning class, the male models were obliged to wear jock straps. I'll never forget the day Ethel, a tiny woman about as wide as she was tall, came in and found our model completely au naturel. She went ballistic.

Materials used:

charcoal, chalk

Male Nude (2016)
