On a trip to Catalina Island, I saw a tall ship anchored in the bay that inspired this painting. I have personally been on a ship in the Caribbean while it was rocked by hurricane driven forty foot swells. It was the most frightening time of my life because of the complete lack of control I had over the situation. The ocean felt alive, like a predator at the top of the food chain. It was many years later before I began to create art. My respect for the oceans power and beauty is what drives my ocean themed paintings.
