Artist's description:

Painted on location at Kirkstone Pass, Lake District. This study looks at the structural quality of the valley below. Over looking the famous Patterdale Valley my aim is capture this spectacular view onto canvas with bold expressive brushwork. Painting very early in the morning just after sunrise there was no light in between the fells, only light on Brothers Water and Place Fell (the valley below). It took 5 repeated trips to complete the study, by scraping away the newest capture and repainting, in between the rain and curious tourists.
