A summer afternoon in North East London. The light is special, light blue sky and long shadow. Victorian red bricks bake in the sweltering heat, languid and dusty, the plane trees shimmering. A rumble of traffic, buses, brakes and gears, shouting children. A familiar walk to and from work, passing shops filled with exotic fruit and vegetables, huge tins of goods from across the world. On the corner is a barber shop, old fashioned and retro, the preserve of men. It is time to return, passing cafés with sticky pastries and pink cakes, fast food shops that smell of oil and chips. This work is rich in realism, vivid and evocative. It is on a 0.4 inch canvas so can hang without a frame of wished. Texture has been added to give extra depth. A perfect gift of London.
