Little Whale is part of an abstraction series based on the concept of the unconsciously conscious mark: the scribble.
Each painting begins as a collection of manic marks, which provide a map upon which the rest of the painting is built upon.
Using my knowledge of perspective, color, atmosphere and space, I translate this raw visual mark into a physical space. Combined with my aesthetic preferences and decisions, my creative and my logical, an illusion emerges.
And yet, it never something I can plan.
I never have even the slightest clue what a painting will look like until its finished.
Making the process much less like an idea, and more like an experience.
Little Whale began as a live painting performance piece, at Sonic Bloom Music and Arts Festival, 2016.
A clear coat has been applied for protection, and it is signed on the back.
Made with love.
