Artist's description:

Recently giraffe populations are plummeting. Habitat loss is one critical factor, but also they are being killed for their tails, which are a status symbol, and their hides. Once plentiful across Africa, they are now heading toward extinction. These collages and paintings are intended to be a celebration of African animals. The naïve style is intentionally colorful and simple as though representing the need to be more innocent in our approach to the world. I use oil paint, pastels, acrylic, and collage materials, but the works are sealed with UV protectant or varnish. This particular piece is on a heavy board with a “shelf” type hanging device.
