This painting was inspired by the Chinese Peacock Dance, which was one of the most wild spread and ancient dances of the Dai ethnic group in Yunnan Province on the southwest border of China.
The poses in this dance are so incredibly beautiful! They are so beautiful because, I think, in part, they present life. Life is a dance. There's moments of movements, and moments of stillness. And there's a different momentum and sensation within each moment of movement and stillness. So is life!
This particular painting of "Stillness" is one of a pair. Also check out the other one titled "Life is a Dance, Movement". Both paintings continue to the sides, and has D-ring and wire installed at the back for ready hanging.
