Artwork description:

An oil on canvas inspired by a Pheonix-like legendary beast in Chinese mythology.

This bird has two pupils in each of its eyes, that's why I painted the eye in two colours. Its sound is as sonorous as Pheonix. It sometimes de-feathers and flies nakedly to scare off predatory beasts and evil spirits to protect humans. I painted its wings slightly transparent to honour this character. This bird misses its home so it will travel back and forth several times a year between home and where people live. While it is away, people build statues of the bird to scare off beasts and ghosts.

**Please kindly note that this piece was caught in an aftermath of a recent typhoon bypassing Hong Kong and there are some watermarks on the edge of the painting. They are not noticeable unless you observe it very closely. But please don't buy it if this bothers.

Because of these watermarks, this painting is priced lower than other pieces of similar size and style.

Materials used:

Oil paint
