Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

The 2,634 feet of The Old Man of Coniston -The inspiration for Kanchenjunga in Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons- is scarred with numerous and mostly abandoned Copper and Slate mines. What man discarded through history is now visible as heaps of spoil on it's rock slopes.

Few scenes in nature captivate me more than the sight of clouds and mist rolling over a mountain peak. Seeing the mist rolling down over the spoils on this dramatic fell put me in mind of Tolkien's Middle Earth and the dark mystery it contains.
