It's difficult to paint the lake district without the results being too 'chocolate boxy' so I'm pleased with this small scale study of light and shade on the side of a lake district fell.
I think the bright, pure colours and unfussy, bold brush strokes are important in this painting which was painted in a single 'alla prima' session.
