Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

Ladybirds are out. They are one of my favorite insects. I think I like how deceptively named and beautiful these killing machines are. During their years life span they can eat over 5000 aphids, their shiny spotted wings armor-platting against any possible attacks. This one is stretching between two leaves, the smallness of the painting hopefully capturing the delicacy as well as the strength of these creatures.
