The inspiration comes from a tintype taken more than a century ago. The scarlet, lace trimmed blouse is unusual, a bit daring perhaps, and quite different from the high necked "Gibson Girl" blouses popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The painting looks nice displayed on a table or shelf. A hanging wire is attached to the back for wall display.
