Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

Impressionist scene on canvas. In this work I was exploring an Impressionist technique using acrylic and alkyds on canvas and board. The subject matter comes from television imagery, a theme I am returned to after a long break. Back then it was all television images interpreted through a brash pop art approach. Now it's period drama using an Impressionist technique. There is a concept behind this. The images I am using are bang on trend, but are they modern in the real sense? Or are they 'old' because they depict the early 20th century or late 19th century and are done in a conventional style. Are the people depicted who we think they are? Is it the actor or the character? Impressionism was once a radical type of painting is this work radical? Or is it simply 'post-modern' pastiche? The very word 'Impressionist' suggests taking off someone, pretending to be something else/impersonating even, as well as a fleeting impression of what is seen. Viewers must make up their own minds.
