Original artwork description:

In this artwork I got to combine some of my favourite tools: hot glue, neon color, fabric, oddity, provocation and plastic.
I got the idea and inspiration by a picture I found of a nacked black woman, wearing the typical KKK mask and holding the burning cross. A condradiction within that I took to create my version of this image.

The body is formed out of hot glue, in a relief style that creates a three-dimensional look and plastic depht.
For the background I worked with a fabric by my favourite designer Alexander Henry. The flames of the cross take over the whole picture in strong colors.
Im in love with the hot and cold effect of the typography. I added it to play with bold cold colors for the perfect contrast.
There is even more going on with the K´s: The foundation of the letters are pictures by the artist Spencer Tunick. Who is famous for his temporary installations of nacked human bodys. To this image of human flesh I assembled small railroad-modelling-figures – burning in neon-glue hellfire.

This kind of modelling figures are from the 60ths, which was the peak time of the Ku-Klux-Klan in the last century. A smack of actual history and reality. But in this picture the supressors have to pay for their unethical values and got sent to hell. Karma strikes back.

Materials used:

Mdf board, plastic figures, hot glue, neon glue, fabric, prints
