Like many of my pictures this is on an interestingly textured ground. I was given a much-repaired Victorian linen bedsheet of which this is part. This gives it a psychological depth; people have been born, loved and died on this fabric. One of the repair seams is visible along the edge of the picture.
This picture explores shapes and the spaces between them. It is part of a series called 'Can the leopard change his shorts?' which comprises bold interlocking shapes decorated with simple patterns.
It is sold in a hand-made and individually coloured frame.
