Artist's description:

Sat in a 40's/50's style cafe waiting for the steam train to arrive on the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway in Kent I couldn't help thinking that the jug of roses on the table would make a great Ink Resist painting. This is my interpretation of this nostalgic scene.

Shadow mounted in Rustic Wood frame, cream/ivory colour with a double off creamy white border with Artglass Conservation Grade non-reflective glass.

Ink Resist (an old technique which I have tailored to suit my style). My paintings undergo several processes to reach the end result which is unpredictable and quite delightful to create

Ink resist paintings have a unique surface texture. They can be fairly smooth and matte (depending upon how much paint was applied in the first instance) and can appear a little shabby or unrefined. For me this is very appealing and very much the hallmark of this type of painting.

I have been producing Ink Resist paintings for about a year now, although I have been playing with the process on and off for about ten years. Please take a look at my other paintings
