"Journey of the Sun" is my largest painting to date (November 2015) measuring 140x140 cms. Painted on part raw and part gessoed canvas, layers of thin paint almost like dyes can be painted, dried and painted over which is what has been done with the sun. In sharp contrast the dark earth below is on a gessoed background giving a denseness and flat feel to that area. The journey is as much about our journeys, some of which are light and uplifting, others are difficult and challenging. Even the difficult ones are illuminated by our sun, whether we realise it or not! I hope this painting gives hope to those on difficult dark journeys. That was my intention.
