Artist's description:

I did this cemetery scene with the back views of the couple who maybe John and Mary.. I had to have some kind of way to finish the series but wanted it to symbolise my idea of time; the past present and future happening simultaneously.. so a graveside seemed appropriate the cycle of life.Larry and I had grown apart and separated when I was working on the family with estate car painting. Close Friends posed for drawings of the couple mourning. I had recently seen a Hockney painting of 2 people's back view's and thought how strong the image could be.I did some sketches of new graves in cemeteries and painted " In loving memory of John and Mary " on the heart shaped tombstone. I actually painted the Family photo painting last and it is crucial as it links with the Cemetery painting and the one of Mary as a girl walking with her friend, so that I could show the paintings in a circle on screens which I did in 1979. The screens are in my garage and probably too warped to re use.
